Best MLS Players in FC25

FC 25 is well and truly upon us, and this year, several MLS players received significant upgrades, while others experienced downgrades. Player ratings in the MLS have increased due to the arrival of designated players joining the MLS. Stars like Messi, Giroud, Suarez and Busquets have elevated the overall quality and profile of the MLS. Let’s take a look at the highest rated players in the game, based on their performances during the last MLS’s season.

Best 6 MLS Players in FC25

6. Sergio Busquets - 81 Overall

Sergio Busquets made an impact when Signing with Inter Miami in 2023. In FC 25, he earned an 81 rated card. Though his performance last season was solid, he didn’t make the Best XI. His overall was downgraded by two ratings from the previous year having earned an 83 rated card. This downgrade reflects his decline in pace and physicality. However, his technical ability and passing ability is still intact, maintaining his status in the game. If he were to receive a special card, it would likely include a significant pace boost and improved passing attributes.

5. Luciano Acosta - 81 Overall

Luciano Acosta, the 2023 MLS MVP, was pivotal in FC Cincinnati's recent success. In FC25, Acosta earned a career-high overall rating of 81. After receiving a 77 rating in FC24, his standout 2024 season earned him this significant upgrade. Acosta was also made the best XI of the 2024 MLS Season. From a pro player perspective, I don't believe he would be usable with a special card, as his upgrades would likely be limited and not good enough to fit into most competitive teams.

4. Marco Reus - 81 Overall

Marco Reus earned an 81-rated card in his debut MLS season with FC25. He joined the league after a disappointing loss in the UCL Final with Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid. Reus received a two-rating downgrade, reflecting his age and adaptation to the league. His pace has been significantly reduced, showing his decreased speed and agility. If Reus receives a special upgrade, I don't think it would be usable due to the minimal increase in pace. However, if his pace increases, it could become a viable option, especially for linking with Messi or other German players. Next season, if Reus performs well in the 2025 MLS season, he could see an upgrade in FC26.

3. Luis Suarez - 82 Overall

Luis Suarez, despite his age, is still a clinical finisher. When he moved to Inter Miami at the end of 2023, the prolific goal scorer received an 82 rated overall card in FC25. While his pace has slowed, his finishing ability remains there, making him a viable option for players looking for an affordable attacker. Suarez has also received special cards, making him a cheap option for the attack. If Suárez has a strong season, we will likely see an upgrade to his card in FC26.

2. Olivier Giroud - 83 Overall

The World Cup Winner and France's all time scorer, Olivier Giroud, has been given an 83-rated card after joining Los Angeles FC in 2024. His current card is less usable due to low pace, but the new special card with better pace improved his effectiveness in game. Additionally, he is easily linkable with MLS and French players, adding to his versatility as a player. For the next FC edition, his rating will likely depend on his performances in the upcoming MLS season.

1. Lionel Messi - 88 Overall

One of the best ever players the grace the game, Lionel Messi, joined Inter Miami in 2023,raising excitement among fans. Lionel Messi was given an 88 rated card in FC25, which marks a downgrade of two ratings from the previous edition.

A downgrade is common for players moving to lower leagues or aging. His dribbling remains top-tier, keeping his card highly usable. Messi’s special cards also make him a prime attacking option. Despite the downgrade, he remains one of the top players in the game. His high dribbling stats make him exceptional in the game. So far, Messi has received a 92-rated special card, making him an excellent option for players, though his high price may be a problem for some.
