Young players are climbing through the ranks with each passing season across the world's top leagues. The MLS is producing young talents like never before, capturing the attention of leading European clubs eager to find emerging stars. MLS Clubs, however, are making every effort to keep hold of their young talents, focusing on following their development year after year. Let's take a look at potential young starts who have already broken through in the MLS and those poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming MLS campaign.

Cavan Sullivan

A standout talent to watch for next season is the young midfield sensation, Cavan Sullivan. At just 14 years old, Sullivan has already made history by debuting for his team, Philadelphia Union, becoming the youngest player ever to play in the MLS. He signed a professional contract at the age of 14, with the deal running until 2028.  English club, Manchester City, already secured his future services for a staggering $5m, although he cannot officially join them before 2028.

For now, Sullivan is focused on the upcoming MLS Season, aiming to make a significant impact for Philadelphia. Renowned for his technical ability, long-range shooting power, and exceptional composure despite his small stature, he is considered one of the most promising prospects in American soccer. Sullivan hopes to catch the eye of the US National Head Coach, Mauricio Pochettino, for a place in the squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Nimfasha Berchimas

The 16 year old boy wonder, Nimfasha Berchimas, is a undoubtedly one to watch in the upcoming MLS season. Playing for Charlotte FC, a relatively new club still growing year by year, Berchimas is a remarkable talent that Charlotte FC is fortunate to have. Renowned for his exceptional dribbling skills and blistering pace, he also poses a constant threat to defenders, especially in one-on-one situations.

As a young attacker, Berchimas possesses the key attributes needed to succeed in his position. However, like any rising star, there is room for growth, particularly in his decision-making when in key situations. With high hopes for the 2025 MLS season, Berchimas will aim to make a significant impact and catch the attention of U.S. National Team head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Caden Clark

The young winger, signed from Minnesota midway through last season, is a standout talent to watch for CF Montreal at just 21 years old. Clark was regarded as one of the most in-form players throughout the campaign, and he aims to replicate those performances in the upcoming MLS season, starting this February. With another strong season, Clark hopes to earn a spot in the USA roster and secure a place in the final squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Nathan Saliba

Saliba, at 20 years old, is  undoubtedly one of the most exciting young prospects in the MLS. Saliba. Playing as a central midfielder, he has become a crucial player for FC Montreal, with his ball progression ability standing out as one of his key strengths. His performances earned him the captain’s armband from FC Montreal head coach Laurent Courtois, showing the trust placed in him as a leader. Saliba also broke into Canada's National Team, impressing Canada's Headcoach Jesse Marsch with his ball progression ability, as well as his defensive and attacking awareness. Saliba’s goal for next season is to replicate his performances and continue to earn call-ups from Marsch for a spot in Canada’s squad for the upcoming World Cup.

Diego Luna

Diego Luna is considered as one of the most exciting young attacking midfielders for the MLS, particularly in the Western Conference League. At just 21 years old, Luna had an impressive season in 2024. He made his mark by assisting 12 goals and and scoring 8 goals. The 21 year old has all the capabilities to consistently perform at a high level. Recently called up for the upcoming January Camp with the U.S. national team, Luna will aim to replicate his club-level success if given the opportunity. Real Salt Lake fans are hopeful that Luna’s continued strong performances will help take the club to the next level of glory.

Daniel Edelman

At 21 years old, Daniel Edelman is considered one of the most important midfielders for New York Red Bulls. Known for his ability to intercept the ball and progressing it forward to create attacking opportunities. Edelman has also shown strong leadership on the pitch. His manager, Sandro Schwarz, trusts him with the captain's armband, a clear indication of his leadership within the team. Although not selected for the upcoming USA Roster, Edelman surely push himself next season to fight for a place in the squad for the next world cup.

All of these young talents have the potential to continue improving and make a significant impact in the league. European clubs will undoubtedly be following their progress, preparing to make a move when the time is right.
