Is Kevin De Bruyne Set to Leave Manchester City for MLS and San Diego FC?

Exploring the Possibility of Kevin De Bruyne’s Move to San Diego FC in MLS

Kevin De Bruyne with the Champions League Trophy

Kevin De Bruyne, described as one of the most decorated players in the premier league, is reportedly edging closer of joining the MLS with new club San Diego FC. San Diego, a newly formed team are already making moves in the MLS, with De Bruyne being their number one target. His contract is set to expire next summer, with many suggesting that he has already made up his mind about where he wants to go.

San Diego FC interest in Kevin De Bruyne

San Diego FC is preparing for its inaugural MLS season, and the club is hoping to have the squad ready before the start of the campaign. The team aims to make a significant impact by signing high-profile players. San Diego's interest in De Bruyne is genuine, as they want to make him the main man of their project. At the moment, there is no agreement with De Bruyne, but there have been preliminary discussions between the two parties over a potential move to North America. He is still evaluating all options, including family preferences, career objectives, and the competitive levels of the prospective league.

Kevin De Bruyne is also happy at City, and is reportedly considering signing a new contract as well. He was interviewed by Belgian Outlet NHS last summer, hinting at new possibilities, stating that at his age, it is important to consider every aspect, such as footballing and financial reasons. San Diego can offer him both, as their wealthy owners can offer him a lucrative contract to bring him to the U.S. One of the key reasons he is considering a move to MLS is that California offers a great place to live, with its warm weather, good lifestyle, and growing soccer culture, making San Diego FC a viable option for him.

Why is it the right time for De Bruyne to move to the MLS?

Kevin De Bruyne is now 33 years old, and for a player, with my great football knowledge, is the best time for to take the next step in his career. He won everything possible with Manchester City, including the famous treble in 2023, playing a crucial role in their success. If he commits to the club again, he may miss the opportunity to take the next step and join another team. MLS is a perfect fit for him because it is an evolving league and they are making every effort to bring superstars from Europe and raise the league’s overall level.

MLS is establishing itself as a league where superstars want to play due to its growing support and the increasing intensity of play. De Bruyne, who is strongly linked with San Diego FC, has already rejected an approach from the Saudi League, clearly suggesting that if he moves next season, MLS is his preferred destination. At this moment, the situation remains uncertain, and things could change quickly once De Bruyne makes a decision.

No one knows what will happen at this moment. This deal could go either way, depending on what De Bruyne wants to do in his career. If he decided to stay in Europe, he will most likely extend his contract with Manchester City, but if he chooses not to re-sign and move on, California and San Diego FC will most likely be his next destination.

Do you think Kevin De Bruyne will extend his contract with Manchester City or make the move to MLS to join San Diego FC?
